Mouthwatering variations on the traditional burger and shake

Home of the Artery Annihilator (read: Bacon cheeseburger sandwiched between … wait for it … two Krispy Kreme donuts), the Burger Club is bringing new meaning to the old school burger and shake. The Peanut Butter Cup is peanut butter and chocolate with chocolate vodka and hazelnut liqueur, while the Georgia Peach Push Pop (we’re obsessed!) is the “ice cream truck classic” with peach vodka and peach schnapps. If a milkshake is too much, choose from one of Burger Club’s 20 beers on tap, including high gravity brews and ciders.

The vibe is funky with odd-shaped tables and bright colors in the untraditional burger joint created by Paul Albrecht and son, Patrick, of Great Food, Inc. Patrick has lived in the Vinings area with his family for the past six years, so felt it was a natural fit to open his first family-friendly establishment in the area. We couldn’t agree more. General manager, Morgan Cox tells us about the popularity of the half price draft beers on Monday nights and Slider Night on Tuesday when burger lovers can try an array of mini-burgers for $1, $2 and $3. And, as their first spring/summer in operation (they opened doors in November 2009), the Vinings hot spot is getting lots of love for their large back patio. Because nothing says “summer” like a BBQ Burger, and at Burger Club, that means a beef patty braised in BCBBQ sauce with coleslaw and fried pickle.

Even if we wanted to, we can’t forget about the Burgersaurus, which Cox informs us has been attempted by many, but only eaten by one pair of (average-sized) dudes one time. The monstrous burger is 5 pounds of prime angus beef, 1.5 pounds of bun and 1.5 pounds of lettuce and tomato. We’ll do the math for you: That’s an 8-pound burger, which means it could technically feed 8-16 people. We want to meet those aforementioned dudes and buy them a drink.

And by drink, we obviously mean the Georgia Peach Push Pop.
