Committing to sweet rewards wasn’t hard for Christopher Rogers. Not one to let a great opportunity pass him by, Rogers didn’t hesitate to take over Sugarcoat when the opportunity presented itself. The glitzy, yet laid back, nail bar set a new standard for Atlanta when it opened in 2005 and is still wowing patrons today. “It’s got great branding, and I just thought it had a lot of potential” says Rogers. “I don’t do nails,” he admits. “It’s just the management aspect that attracts me.”  

With that in mind, Rogers, who was previously in sales, hasn’t rocked the boat. Instead of changing things, he’s focused more on tweaking the Sugarcoat charm. So the mini-chandelier is still there and so are the bright white walls and the pink and chocolate accents. Manicure tables are in the front, with the pedicure stations lining the back wall.  

What is the Sugarcoat advantage? “I would say the cleanliness, fresh tools and no recycled water,” Rogers quickly responds. Keep it with you for return visits or simply start anew; the choice is yours. Either way you’ll be clean and safe at sugarcoat, as metal utensils are soaked in Barbicide for at least 20 minutes and baked in a sterilizer for another 45 minutes after each service. No bacteria swirl in the water either thanks to Sugarcoat’s custom-built pedicure thrones that pump fresh water. Plus, all sinks and surrounding areas are scrubbed with a hospital grade cleanser.

“It’s a really bright environment,” continues Rogers on the Sugarcoat advantage. “We’ve got a chic atmosphere going on. It’s a lot different than the dreary, usual five and dime nail place. It’s just a completely different experience.”

Quality is championed at Sugarcoat, so sit back and relax. “It takes about 30 minutes for a manicure, 45 for a pedicure and an hour and a half for both,” preps Rogers. “You won’t really find that at many other places. They’re trying to get you in and out. It’s a more relaxing experience when you’re here.”

Billed as “a mini-vacation for tired feet,” there’s a coconut soak, followed by a Pure Fiji Coconut Oil Exfoliating Sugar Scrub and gentle warm stone massage followed up with Pure Fiji Pineapple Scented Oil.  

Only OPI, SpaRitual and Essie shades are used at Sugarcoat, with red being the hands-down number one choice.
